West Webster Fire Dept. Family Portrait Days: Rochester, NY Family Portrait Photographer
Wednesday, July 17, 2013 | By: Linda Dow Hayes
This past June, wanting to show my appreciation to those who serve in my community as firefighters, I organized a portrait opportunity for families of the West Webster Fire Department. Actually, I had wanted to offer it to all of the fire department families of Webster. As I researched and contacted the appropriate people, I found out that the fire dept. consisted of three facilities; West Webster, the Village of Webster and Union Hill. The number of possible family groups came to about three-hundred. I'm a one-person business and there was no way I could accomodate that many families! So after some thought and discussion with several dept. members, it was decided that I would offer the portrait sessions to West Webster in 2013, the village in 2014 and Union Hill in 2015. I called it WWFD Family Portrait Days and it ran two consecutive Saturdays in June. I was delighted that fifteen families took advantage of the free session offer. It was a pleasure meeting these families that sacrifice so much so that their loved one can protect our community. The following is a sampling of the session images.

Many thanks to Brad Cowan for the use of this department promotional image he shot during the event.

I couldn't resist this last one. After the session, my last, dad discovered that he'd locked his keys in the car. So while we were waiting for the fire department (yep!) to come help him out, I raced around with the girls photographing them. We had a blast!!!
